constant
A measured quantity that does not change, or that stays the same under particular conditions. A constant is, by convention, often entered in equations as a letter symbol.
A constant can also be an expression with no variables or with variables that cancel out each other. For example, –42 is a constant. So is 3x + 5 – 3x, which simplifies to just 5.
